This is the Press Release,
which appeared in the
Halifax
Daily News shortly after our First Annual Scholarship Fund Dinner event ...
The air filled with the sound of pipes as the 1st
Annual Association of Private Career Colleges Fundraising Dinner in Support
of Adult Learners kicked off last evening. Representatives from businesses and schools around the
community came together to celebrate continuing education and lifelong
learning in
Nova Scotia
.
The evening featured a silent auction, music by the 33rd Halifax Pipes and
Drums, and a performance by the popular Halifax-based Improv
troupe The Improvateers.
September 8, 2002, represented the first day of
International Adult Learners’ Week in Nova Scotia. “What did you learn
today?” was the theme of the week long
series of events aimed to raise the profile of adult learning and to
celebrate life long learning. The fund’s main purpose will be to help
adult learners that wish to continue their education at one of the
association’s member schools. “We are happy with the turn out
this evening” says Chairperson for the
dinner, Scott McKenzie. “We started with a goal to make enough money
to start a scholarship fund, and we have done just that with close to
$6,000 raised!
